Closed Doors Open Doors
Oso watched the pavement disappear as the jet sped down the runway. The sound of the engine momentarily drew her attention away from her pain. She’d worked day and night for nearly twenty years and just when her dream job was within her reach, someone younger, thinner and blonder was handed her promotion. Everyone in the office could see the profound disappointment on her face as Bradley made the announcement. The feeling of injustice still burned inside of her. She gathered her things that day, packed years of hard work into two small boxes and left without a purpose or a plan. Thankfully the universe had something else in mind for her. As she exited her office for the last time, Bill, her mentor, called with the opportunity of a lifetime. She thought of that moment as she headed to Ghana on assignment. She marveled at the turn of events. The moment she let go of what she thought was supposed to be and accepted what was, her dreams began to come true.
