They Left Us No Choice

As the war intensified, they left us no choice but to completely annihilate them. They had ignored all rules of engagement and there was no thing that was not weaponized against us. Even some of our own, turned against self and community, gave sanctuary and aid to our relentless foe. These Judases we killed first, and once the enemy within was destroyed, we turned towards the Amu. The oracle had spoken, “wipe them away and everything that belongs to them. Spare nothing. Slay every man and woman, child, ox and sheep, camel and ass.”  Before, we gave mercy when none was due. Not this time. Not after everything they’d done. Not after all we’d suffered. Kill the weeds less they strangle the root.
