No Surrender

They sat in silence, each not knowing exactly what to say. The truth had been spoken. Now an uncomfortable space filled with both love and uncertainty rested between them. The stillness forced them to take in their redefined reality. It was as if they had stepped outside of themselves, overseeing their world break apart but unable to piece it back together. She stood first, needing to reassure herself that the ground beneath her was still solid. She found her footing and walked slowly towards the door. Her first thought was to leave. A more mature her decided to lock the door instead.
